Christian Science has been a great help to me for nearly thirty years, and I feel my testimony of gratitude is long overdue. My first healing was of a badly poisoned hand. At that time I knew little of Christian Science, but I had read of people being healed by reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I decided to read this book and spent much time trying to understand what I read. For three days and nights the pain was so intense I had no sleep at all. At the end of that period, after reading the paragraph with the marginal heading, "One primal cause," on page 207 of the textbook, I fell asleep. All pain had disappeared, and although it was some time before my hand looked as it should, I was healed without using any material means whatsoever.
I have since been healed of severe headaches, also of colds, from which, before studying Christian Science, I never seemed free. Once while spring-cleaning, I was carrying something rather heavy when a small mat slid from under me. In trying tc save what was in my arms, I fell with great force on the end of my spine, causing intense pain. I called out, trying to attract another member of my family, but failed to do so. Almost at the same time the word; of one of our hymns came to me (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 139),
God's healing truth is free to all,
Our Father answers. every call.
