When Christian Science was presented to me many years ago, it was rejected. In my ignorance of this religion's significance and import, I boastfully maintained that there was no need for it in my case. Good health was enjoyed, and an advantageous business connection was most satisfactory; therefore my conclusion was that Christian Science was unnecessary.
It should be mentioned that I smoked heavily, drank intoxicants socially, and was compelled to wear glasses continuously for failing sight as well as to forestall severe headaches.
Several years later, doctors informed me that they could not cure my wife's physical ills. One doctor gave the verdict that she could live only about six months. In our extremity a loving friend again brought this emancipating truth to us. My wife readily embraced the religion and immediately received much help from reading authorized Christian Science literature, studying "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and regularly attending church services.
