It gives me great pleasure to be able to testify to the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science. Seven years ago a great change came into my life when I accepted its teachings. I had always been considered an extremely weak and anaemic child, and from my earliest recollections it had seemed imperative for me to take medicines constantly for constipation, headaches, severe colds, and chest weakness which afterwards turned to asthma. In addition I was very nervous.
Just before I became of age I had apparently found a cure for the asthma in a herbal remedy. But gastritis and depression troubled me, and I was told by the herbalist that this condition was a result of the medicine I had taken. I went to my bedroom one day to lie down, and while there I thought of a Journal which had been given away at a lecture. I decided to look into it, wondering if after all there could be anything in Christian Science.
I read a little, then came across the words from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 113), "There is no pain in Truth, and no truth in pain." These words struck me forcibly, and I reasoned over them and held to them, meanwhile getting up and going about my work. I had never heard anything like them before. Soon I was free of the inharmonious condition. I felt strong, uplifted, glorious.
