Two Went and Told

From the September 1949 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Ah, to have rested then,
On the vision,
At point of revelation!
To have leaned on the words flung
From wall to wall of rock.
But the commission?
"Go quickly . . . tell!"
To say "Rabboni!" then,
Was not enough.

"Go!" said the angel.
Already derision
Threatened to deny
Authentic narrative
Of honest tongue.
"Disciples came by night . . ."
Well? easy money
For saying it that way
And keeping out of sight.

"Go . . . tell the disciples."
Two went fast.
The false word
Was not the last.
