Through the healing of a sister of the necessity for a surgical operation, I was led to investigate Christian Science. I needed something to cling to, for the church of which I was an active member had not met my need. I had lost faith in physicians owing to the failure of their methods in my family of six children.
When I was visiting my sister, she told me of her healing and said, "What you need is Christian Science." Still so blinded by my own troubles that I was not much impressed with her healing, I insisted that I must have something practical. She requested me to read the chapter on Prayer in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This I did and was immediately convinced that I had found the truth which would solve my problems.
My sister reluctantly lent me her copy of Science and Health to read on my way home, a day's journey away. When I came to page 323 and read, "In order to apprehend more, we must put into practice what we already know. We must recollect that Truth is demonstrable when understood, and that good is not understood until demonstrated," I said to myself, "If this is something that can be demonstrated, surely I can learn how to demonstrate it." I resolved there and then that I would try Christian Science for everything. That resolve has been faithfully kept, and proofs innumerable of its healing efficacy have been mine.
