The change in my outlook on life since taking up the study of Christian Science has been so wonderful that I have long felt the urge to express my gratitude in writing. After several years of medical and hospital treatment a weakened internal condition caused by the birth of our son resulted in periodic hemorrhages. These were very severe and frightening, and I was warned by my doctor that a major operation was imperative. About this time I became friendly with a neighbor, who gave me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
Since childhood I had had deeply religious convictions and had been an active member of an orthodox church, but after reading the chapter on Prayer in this inspired book, I felt assured that I had found God, who could be understood and demonstrated as Life, Truth, and Love. Eagerness to express His love prompted me to apply for membership in The Mother Church and later for membership in a branch society, in which I have served for several very happy and active years. Gradually, as my consciousness awakened to the true conception of being, all physical disorders became less apparent, until I realized that my body was functioning normally and harmoniously. This was proved when I was able to cycle again after a lapse of fifteen years.
I have been very grateful for the loving and patient work of a consecrated practitioner, who has helped me step by step to demonstrate the grand truths of Christian Science. Many blessings have been experienced. Our son, released from a false sense of maternal love and fear, has developed from a constantly ailing child into a fine, healthy lad.
