One day sixteen years ago I telephoned a Christian Science friend at four o'clock in the morning and asked for help for our infant son, who was suffering from pain in one ear. I still recall the loving voice which answered. Despite the early morning hour, she was not at all troubled and said that it was a joy to help me. Shortly after I telephoned, the child went to sleep, and when he awakened he was restored to his normal self. When I laid him on the bathinette to care for him, a large lump of earwax and some pus came out of one ear. The healing came simply and quietly. My gratitude is boundless.
When I was expecting this child I had proofs of the power of Truth over error. My husband was not a Christian Scientist and insisted that I should be examined. I reluctantly consented to his request, and the examination disclosed an inharmonious condition. In despair I called up the practitioner who had stood by me so many times. After she began the work, the error was short-lived, for when the doctor examined me again he said that his first diagnosis must have been wrong because there was now no trace of the condition.
It is not possible to express in words the gratitude I feel for the weekly Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. The early morning reading of these healing messages gives me strength and energy for my daily activities. I am deeply grateful for Christian Science.—Alsten, Sweden.
