As I look back upon my life before I found Christian Science, it seems like a dark dream. Truly, "the Lord is my light." In a measure I now understand what St. Paul meant when he spoke of putting off the old man and putting on the new, and what Christ Jesus meant by (John 3:7), "Ye must be born again."
As a child and young woman, I had constant colds and headaches. These have been unknown to me for a long time now.
At one time I experienced the symptoms of influenza. I called a practitioner, and she reminded me that not hatred, but divine Love reigns. "The government of divine Love is supreme," writes Mrs. Eddy in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 278). By the next morning I was free from the ailment.
