Students of Christian Science may profitably ask themselves how much they realize of the triune Godhead. This is an important question, for in the spiritual understanding of the Godhead lies the power to heal the sick and the sinning and to raise the dead, as did Christ Jesus.
Popular religion presents the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost as three persons in one God. Christian Science, on the other hand, takes a different view, as this passage from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy indicates (pp. 331, 332): "Life, Truth, and Love constitute the triune Person called God,— that is, the triply divine Principle, Love. They represent a trinity in unity, three in one,—the same in essence, though multiform in office: God the Father-Mother; Christ the spiritual idea of sonship; divine Science or the Holy Comforter. These three express in divine Science the threefold, essential nature of the infinite. They also indicate the divine Principle of scientific being, the intelligent relation of God to man and the universe."
When the triunity of God is understood and its Principle applied to the affairs of mankind, this understanding bases all Christianly scientific demonstration. This understanding is followed by the comprehension of the illusive nature of all error, since only by knowing the nothingness of sin, disease, and death can one demonstrate the allness of God. The operation of divine Principle is the Science, theology, and medicine of Christ, for Christ "is the power of God unto salvation" (Rom. 1:16), destroying the errors of the senses and restoring harmony and normality in human experience.
