My husband, our family, and I have so much reason to be grateful to Christian Science that I scarcely know where to begin. A wonderful healing came to me in 1921. For years I had not eaten a meal without suffering from stomach pains, headaches, and backache. The doctor's verdict was ulcers and tuberculosis, but that was proved false. Doctors also said that I never could have children, as I was undeveloped and not normal. But after we had been married sixteen years, when I was thirty-eight, I gave birth to twin boys under Christian Science treatment in a Christian Science nursing home. Four years later a lovely little girl was born to us. When she was a tiny baby, we lost our friend and practitioner, and our world seemed to tumble about us with many difficulties. But when we held to the fact that God is our only helper, gratitude filled our hearts, and all three children were reared in Science.
In 1944 one of the twins broke a shovel handle, which struck him in the right eye, totally blinding him for many days. He asked for a practitioner, who was called. Some time later, before school started, he was taken to two eye specialists to see if there was need for glasses. They both testified that there had been a severe injury to the eye, as all the ligaments had been torn loose. They said that the healing was wonderful, that all was intact, and that there was nothing they needed to do. Today the eye is perfect.
We ran a dairy farm for eleven years, and our cows and calves all responded to Christian Science treatment whenever any illness appeared. There were healings of milk fever, hoof and mouth disease, pneumonia, Bang's disease, and other ailments. Glanders in horses was also cured.
