Since early childhood I have known of Christian Science and have used it in my daily living. It was only in recent years, when I acquired a home and family of my own, that I began to be truly grateful for Mrs. Eddy's discovery. Before this I had taken a great deal of the blessing for granted and seldom felt any deep gratitude for her consecration and the tremendous sacrifice she made so that this Science would be available to everyone.
There have been many healings through the application of this Science both in my parents' home and in my present home. The belief of inferiority was overcome by the understanding gained through the study of Christian Science that man is the reflection of God and therefore is perfect and complete. Our two children have been quickly healed of effects of accidents, and of fevers, colds, and other diseases. Nothing but Christian Science has been used.
My first husband was killed in action during World War II. When the telegram was received, I called upon a practitioner to help me, since the shock and grief seemed unbearable. Within an hour I was able to assume the responsibilities of caring for the two children and received much protection and love from both families concerned. The temptation to believe that not only had I lost my husband, but the children had no father, was overcome by my constantly knowing that God is our Father and always present. The temptation to think what a tragedy it was that such a wonderful man had been lost to the world was quickly met through the singing of Hymn No. 52 in the Christian Science Hymnal, which reads in part:
