Small Things

From the June 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Does some Goliath of sin, disease, or death
Aggressive stand, full armed in coat of mail?
A shepherd boy who knew no power but God
Slung one small stone and saw Truth's law prevail.

Did Jesus think supplies at hand too slight
To satisfy the vast and hungry throng?
While thanking God for true, exhaustless love,
He met their needs and filled their hearts with song.

Does sense suggest acknowledgment of God
Should wait because your grasp of Truth is small?
The Master, watching tribute being paid,
Pronounced the widow's mite as more than all.

Does glad fruition yet seem long delayed,
Though you have deeply prayed, "Thy will, not mine"?
Watch those small thoughts that miss Soul's measuring rod;
It is the little foxes spoil the vine!

Above the clamor of earth's restless ways,
The still, small voice of Truth rings clear, sublime:
One perfect, changeless God made all things good;
The son reflects the Father all the time!
