THE SIX-ROOM COTTAGE

[Of Special Interest to Children]

From the June 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Mother, why do you study all the Lesson-Sermon every day?" asked twelve-year-old Bobby. "Isn't once or twice a week enough? Or, why not study one section each day and then listen to all of it read in church on Sunday?"

Now Bobby's mother knew that the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy are the only preachers in Christian Science churches, and she understood how important the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly are. She knew that Mrs. Eddy had been led of God to choose the subjects for these Lessons and that the truths in them help us to understand God better and so lead to more useful lives. Indeed, she knew that the truths in these Lessons bless all mankind, and she wanted Bobby to understand this. She turned to God in prayer, so that when she answered Bobby's question it would be just the kind of answer that he would understand. For, you see, when we pray with all our heart, God always sends His angels to inspire and instruct us.

Now this is what the angel told Bobby's mother to say: "Bobby, suppose a friend should call and ask us if we would like to use her six-room cottage at the beach for a week. What, would your answer be?"
