From the February 1951 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is a privilege to bear witness to the healing power of Christian Science. Everything I have I owe to the study of this Science, for I have emerged from a tragic childhood filled with sickness into the happiness and health of a life made free. All my early healings came about by studying "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the textbook of Christian Science. Later other healings were also realized with the help of loving practitioners.

One of the most outstanding experiences I have had was the healing that took place before our son was born. I became very ill and, because of the laws of the state where we were living at that time, a doctor was called. The verdict was that if I did not go to the hospital for an operation within two hours neither the child nor I would live, but that if I did go, my life could be saved. When I look back upon that experience, the thing that helps and encourages me most is the fact that, because of my years of study in Christian Science, I never for one moment wavered in my faith in its healing power. I did not go to the hospital, and of course the baby and I were both saved.

It was a great joy when this boy became old enough to join The Mother Church. It was a privilege to which he had been looking forward with much eagerness for two or three years.
