The testimonies published in our periodicals have always been very helpful to me, and I wish to relate the following experience as one more proof of the fact that Christian Science heals.
Once when I was staying at a hotel with my sister and her husband, who was a prominent surgeon, a bee stung my finger. Instead of denying the error, I became indignant at the painful occurrence. Next afternoon the hand started to swell and by evening looked ugly and misshapen. At dinner that night my brother-in-law said that the condition was alarming and that the wound should be opened with instruments, or I might lose the arm. When I was alone in my room, I realized that this was an opportunity to prove the healing power of Christian Science, and I decided to place radical reliance on Truth.
I reasoned that as the reflection of God, I was not material; that my true being had not been involved in or disturbed by any painful condition. The beliefs of resentment, time, pain, fear, inflammation, associated with the false concept of man as mortal, had no more relation to me than the chair on which I was sitting. I remembered what our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says on page of the textbook, Science and Health: "Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God's government." I also pondered the verse from Hebrews (4:12), "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword." By morning the situation was so improved that the dire predictions of the evening before were not even mentioned, and shortly all evidence of the incident disappeared.
