It was a great day for our family when we began the earnest study of Christian Science, for we began to learn the wonderful truths contained in the works of Mary Baker Eddy, our revered Leader. My gratitude for the many avenues she established to give this truth to all mankind is inexpressible. We have received healings through attending Christian Science lectures and through reading the periodicals. I am especially grateful for the practitioners, who give so lovingly of their spiritual understanding whenever called upon for help. The Christian Science Sunday School has been a great source of growth not only for our children, but also for my wife and me as teachers in it.
We have had many healings of sicknesses and of injuries from accidents. Financial problems have been met; so-called children's diseases have been instantaneously healed; erroneous traits of character and habits, including the smoking and drinking habits of many years' standing, have been completely overcome. Lack has been overcome by our relying on the guidance and protection of the one Mind and holding to the spiritual fact that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494).
At one time during a winter vacation our daughter received serious injuries when the convertible in which she was riding skidded and went over a cliff. She was the only Christian Scientist in the car. Immediately she began to work as she had been taught, declaring God's ever-present care for all His ideas and knowing that there are no accidents in divine Mind. The car lodged on a projection and was suspended in midair. It was impossible to explain humanly how the car was held there and how the occupants were able to get out of it. A practitioner was notified, and help in Christian Science was given. A few days later our daughter was completely healed.
