Centuries ago the Christ, manifested by Jesus, brought to suffering humanity the peace of God. Today the Christ has lost none of its redeeming power. Christian Scientists are utilizing for the same healing purpose this spiritual idea of Truth. Exercising the might of infinite Mind, denying to evil any reality, substance, or source, they know by reason of what they have already proved that the Christ is the divine way by means of which the war, hatred, unrest, and fear that threaten to engulf mankind can be annihilated.
The question is, As Christian Scientists are we making full use of this invincible weapon of warfare which eternal Love inspired our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, to place in our hands? The answer is "Yes" only as we demonstrate through our understanding and practice of divine metaphysics that the Christly method does bring about the downfall of that evil sense of mind in matter described in Revelation as the great red dragon.
The Christian Scientist relegates evil to the realm of nothingness because the Christ idea has revealed to human consciousness that since God is infinite, All, there is only one creation, the immortal universe and spiritual man, emanating from perfect Mind. To this spiritualized sense there is no perishable creation, which iniquity can engulf in flood, mesmerize with fear, or devastate by war, sin, disease, or death. Mrs. Eddy indicates the practical way by means of which the dragon of false belief in a power apart from God is destroyed (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 505): "Spiritual sense is the discernment of spiritual good. Understanding is the line of demarcation between the real and unreal. Spiritual understanding unfolds Mind,—Life, Truth, and Love,—and demonstrates the divine sense, giving the spiritual proof of the universe in Christian Science."
