In her autobiography, "Retrospection and Introspection," Mary Baker Eddy writes (pp. 90. 91): "It is safe to leave with God the government of man. He appoints and He anoints His Truth-bearers, and God is their sure defense and refuge."
"Who are God's Truth-bearers?" one may ask. Every Christian Scientist is a Truth-bearer to the extent that he expresses the truth which has become of first importance in his life. The truth which he carries to mankind is the spiritual fact of man's present perfection and unity with God. As the spiritual facts of being continue to unfold in his own consciousness, the desire to share the priceless blessings of Truth with others awakens within him.
In whatever capacity one may be called upon to serve, whether within the church organization or out of it, to the extent that he is governed wholly and exclusively by divine Principle will he be able to carry on his work successfully. Looking alone to the one infinite Mind for guidance, the student will be wisely led to voice the truth only in right ways and at appropriate times. As the Psalmist pointed out (Ps. 112:5), "He will guide his affairs with discretion."
