The Treatment

From the March 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Out of the night of doubt and pain and terror
The healing words, in answer to my call,
Came in swift, gentle, urgent reassurance
Of Love supreme, alone, encircling all:

Be not afraid, beloved child of Zion,
It is unreal—the lie, the dream, the fear—
For only Life and Truth and good are present
In God's eternal, perfect now and here.

Arise! Take up this bed and claim full freedom;
Behold the Light that never can grow dim
And know that now, even as in the beginning,
You walk in holy sinlessness in Him.

I heard, I saw, I felt in grateful wonder;
I rose with winged steps to greet the day,
To share the blessing with my toil-bound brother
And loose his burden up the winding way.

O boundless Love, which through all generations
Anoints the faithful ones on every shore
To point the gospel of Thy stablished kingdom,
Where sin, and time, and death are felt no more!
