In the Gospel of Matthew (4:23) it is recorded that "Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people." Jesus never resorted to material medicines or methods for healing and made no concessions to persons or opinions. Conscious always of God's presence, he turned naturally to his heavenly Father in loving communion. His pure and humble prayers enabled him to perform what were called miracles. He imparted to his hearers the spiritual truths which came to him from divine Mind, thus uplifting their thoughts and destroying their fears.
Christian Scientists regard Jesus as the anointed, the divinely appointed Way-shower for mankind; and since they regard him as the Way-shower, they believe it is their duty to do as he did, that is, to heal "all manner of disease." Almost every Christian Science practitioner knows of diseases pronounced incurable which have been healed through the power of God as revealed in Christian Science. In the periodicals one can read of cases of so-called incurable diseases that have been thoroughly and permanently healed through Christian Science treatment. Other persons have learned from testimonies given in Wednesday testimony meetings that all diseases are curable.
Therefore those who seem to be suffering from diseases regarded as incurable need not despair. On the contrary, they should be encouraged to expect healing, since it is being demonstrated today, as in the days of Jesus, that God's love is sufficient to meet any and every human need and that that which the world would call an incurable or dread disease has no more power or reality than the mist which hides the mountaintop.
