When Christian Science was presented to me, I was lying in a hospital in Norway, where I had been for nine months, a mental and physical wreck with no hope of ever recovering or of rising from the depths of suffering, fear, and despondency. I was, according to medical diagnosis, suffering from a severe nervous breakdown with complications. Medical science could do no more for me. The only solution I could think of was to die, and that was my desire.
While I was in this hospital, a cousin of mine, having heard of my condition, came to see me. She brought with her a friend who was a Christian Science practitioner. At my request she worked for me in Christian Science and helped me to find God, good. It was soon proved to me that I am the blessed child of God, healthy, harmonious, and free, for I was healed.
It is impossible in this testimony to tell of the many wonderful healings I have experienced. Many false traits of character left me after I sincerely and honestly studied this wonderful truth. I have been healed of the smoking and social drinking habits, in which I indulged for more than twenty-two years. Among other healings experienced are those of asthma, running eczema, malarial fever, and insomnia; in the last-mentioned case everything that was available to make me sleep had been used, but had proved ineffective, and for years I did not have one full night's rest.
