I have had many wonderful proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science; but I am beginning to realize that the appreciation which I have often voiced at our Wednesday testimony meetings will not be fully expressed until I have availed myself of the privilege of expressing it through our authorized periodicals.
An outstanding healing for which I am most grateful occurred a few years ago. A small wart or mole on my upper lip suddenly began to grow at an alarming rate. A medical verdict, with which I inadvertently became acquainted, pronounced it skin cancer, and the suggestion was made for its immediate removal with X-ray treatments. Due to the alarm manifested by my family and remarks made by friends, I considered it wise to go away from home for study and help. I shall always be grateful to the friends who so lovingly opened their home to me and assisted me during that trying period.
As the condition grew to alarming proportions a sense of intense nervousness developed. I was filled with fear and a sense of resentment at being kept away so long from my home. However, as I continued to study I slowly began to realize how much wrong thinking I had to root out. A wrong concept of home and family, a lack of desire to do my own work in Christian Science, an abnormal fear of other people's thoughts and of false laws of heredity, were some of the errors uncovered at that time. I gradually gained a clearer concept of my real home as spiritual consciousness and of everything good I possessed as being part of that consciousness. A desire to think for myself and not always lean on another for help developed, and a great yearning to reflect Truth replaced a selfish instinct to want it just for my own good.
