This testimony of mine can give only a glimpse of the many blessings and healings which have come into my experience through the years, all of them entirely due to Christian Science. I have always been particularly glad that the truth is simple, though also profound. This simplicity enables each sincere seeker to begin at once to prove the truth for himself.
Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was first called to my attention by my sister. I spent every spare moment reading it and at once felt sure that it must be true. The teaching that only God, good, is real, impressed me greatly. This sentence stood out (Science and Health, p. 473): "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power." Eagerly I held to this and similar statements and taught them to our children; I also began to prove them for myself.
One day our small son ran unnoticed into the roadway and was knocked down by a boy cyclist racing with his friends. The child's appearance was alarming. There was a sharp cut on his temple, and he seemed to be losing consciousness. Picking him up, I said, "You are all right, darling; God is here." Of that I felt sure. To my joy his condition improved at once. I took him into the house and washed his face. In a few moments I carried the smiling child to the door, where I assured the frightened cyclist that all was well. A friend who had hurried in to sympathize was much impressed by this instantaneous healing.
