Because of Christian Science I have a great deal for which to be grateful. It has taught me what is true of God and man, filling my life with joy, peace, and spiritual activity. Bearing witness only to God, good, is a full and joyous work that brings into evidence the greatness of God's love for each and all.
While I was riding with my daughter my horse suddenly bolted around a sharp curve. I was thrown from the saddle and landed on the lower part of my back. The fall rendered me semiconscious, and it greatly frightened my daughter, who helped me to get home. Although I tried to deny the reality of what was unlike good and to claim only God's presence, I was in great pain and unable to move my body below the waist. My daughter got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner, who gave me treatment. A wonderful sense of peace came over me, and soon I was able to move as usual. The healing was complete and has remained permanent.
Some time after my daughter married she began suffering from attacks of pain and faintness. Her husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, insisted on an examination by a physician, who pronounced the condition a serious disorder associated with childbirth and called a specialist to make an examination in verification of his diagnosis. The specialist agreed with the diagnosis and said that he felt my daughter should be kept under observation until further laboratory tests could be made. No medicine was given, and my daughter at once asked me for Christian Science help.
