Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 358), "Christian Science, understood, coincides with the Scriptures, and sustains logically and demonstratively every point it presents." And continuing to speak of Christian Science, at the end of the same paragraph she adds, "It presents the calm and clear verdict of Truth against error, uttered and illustrated by the prophets, by Jesus, by his apostles, as is recorded throughout the Scriptures." In 1895 our Leader ordained the Bible and Science and Health as the pastor of The Mother Church, and throughout all time they will stand together in irrefutable completeness.
The student of Christian Science through his own spiritual illumination discerns a God-inspired correlation uniting the Bible and Science and Health. He also learns the necessity of studying them as one, from a Christianly scientific standpoint, in order that he may gain their spiritual meaning and practical value. Adherents of Christian Science are greatly blessed in that their pastor, through the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, provides them with a carefully prepared sermon for each Sunday, which sermon supplies them with much food for thought during the preceding week. It might here be noted that the King James Version of the Bible, and no other, is used at every English Christian Science service and at all meetings in The Mother Church. This version is the one from which our Leader so frequently quotes.
When the Sadducees came to Jesus questioning him about the resurrection, the Master began his answer with these words (Matt. 22:29): "Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God." His words show that he read in the Scriptures what his unenlightened questioners could not grasp.
