Christ Jesus was the greatest enunciator and demonstrator of spiritual truth. His achievements in this field are unequaled; nor is his work to be compared with that of any other individual, except as one may be in agreement with the other.
Mary Baker Eddy was not another Jesus, or another Christ. She shrank from any such consideration, for she saw that it would be an inexcusable irreverence toward the master Christian. Mrs. Eddy's work may be said to complement that of Jesus. Indeed she says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 147), "Our Master healed the sick, practised Christian healing, and taught the generalities of its divine Principle to his students; but he left no definite rule for demonstrating this Principle of healing and preventing disease. This rule remained to be discovered in Christian Science."
The originality of Jesus, of Mrs. Eddy, and of everyone, is the reflection of Him who is the origin of all true being. God, Life, Truth, and Love, is the creator of man. Therefore originality is an inherent characteristic of man, God's idea. This spiritually scientific fact means that every idea reflects God in an individual manner; not by being a duplicate of another, or a combination of others, but by being itself. In this sense it may be said that every idea is a spiritual original, embodying all the qualities of God by reflection and by individually expressing them.
