Christ Jesus taught his followers many things about the kingdom of heaven; in fact, he made plain that his main purpose was to reveal the accessibility of his Father's realm. In one instance, when asked In the Pharisees when this kingdom would become visible, he replied (Luke 17:20,21). "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
With this explanation Jesus taught that this desirable realm can never be discerned by the material senses, nor can it be found in a geographical location, because it is a state of spiritual consciousness and is always an individual spiritual experience. Being within man, heaven is and always will be at hand, with its eternal blessings available to all who seek for it according to Jesus' directions.
The Master also taught that there is just one way to gain this joy-filled and free consciousness. At one time, referring to a little child he had called unto him and had set in the midst of his disciples, he said (Matt. 18:3,41): "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
