SCIENCE AND CHRISTIANITY

From the October 1954 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science is a religion of proof. We can know this Science only as it is proved and made practical in our lives. That is why every proof of its efficacy is so valuable. The healing Christ never ceases to be active. It touches the human consciousness and transforms and spiritualizes it. This transformation of thought results in healing. Thus we find that every healing in Christian Science is accompanied by spiritualization of the human consciousness. In this way so-called mortal mind is put off, and one gains a clearer conception of Spirit and of man's spiritual, perfect, and immortal existence.

There is no afflictive condition, mental or physical, too severe for Truth to act upon and destroy. Every such condition is an illusion, and the truth concerning God and man dispels the illusion and brings to light man's Godlike health and harmony.

To effect regeneration of the human mind and transformation of the body, Christianization of thought is necessary. Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 15), "Nothing aside from the spiritualization—yea, the highest Christianization—of thought and desire, can give the true perception of God and divine Science, that results in health, happiness, and holiness."
