I am very grateful to have been raised in a Christian Science home, where I was taught always to trust God to meet every need. In the year 1894 my father came into Christian Science with my grandfather, who was instantaneously healed of lameness and of the need of wearing glasses, although he had been told that he could never go without them. Even in his seventy-fifth year he read small print without difficulty. The practitioner who healed my grandfather, on the same day also healed my father of difficulties with which he had been troubled from infancy.
I am grateful that my three children were enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School at an early age and that they are proving the truth given by our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I have witnessed healings of a number of childhood diseases, all of which were overcome in a very short time. My son missed but two days of school because of mumps. The work done completely protected my daughters, but I had not worked for my own protection, and a short time later the condition manifested itself on me. Although the material evidence was apparent for about a week, I am grateful to say that I had complete freedom from discomfort and was not hindered in any way from accomplishing my daily duties, which included much outdoor activity.
I have twice experienced completely painless childbirth. The latter time I went to my sister's home the following day, and I took care of the baby from the third day on. I am grateful to know that true birth is the unfolding of God's ideas, which have never had a beginning or an ending. I can truthfully say that I do not recall ever having spent a full day in bed because of illness.
