I am indeed grateful for Christian Science. It came to me when I was seeking a better way of life than the selfish, limited way which I was then following. It answered satisfactorily all my questions about God, eternal Life. Mrs. Eddy's textbook, Science and Health, is indeed a key to the Scriptures, and it has unlocked the treasures of Truth for me.
My first healing was experienced after a heavy trap door fell on my head. I had a dazed feeling, but no pain. Immediately I thought of the beautiful testimonies of healing I had heard at the Wednesday meetings in a Church of Christ, Scientist, which I had been attending for a few weeks. Also I knew that every message in Science and Health is a healing one, and as I sat on my bed and read for about ten minutes, the truth from the textbook dispelled the dazed feeling. I was able to attend a party that evening, and there were no ill effects from the incident.
Another early healing was that of constipation. One night I awakened in great pain. After struggling with a sense of fear and with the suggestion that I should have taken the medicine I had previously relied on for this complaint. I asked myself which was more important to me, God or medicine. I knew that the answer was God, because I was learning to love Him more. As I wanted to put into practice the truths I was learning, I began declaring that God, Love, was present.
