Testimonies of Healing

My husband and I became interested in...

From the March 1954 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My husband and I became interested in Christian Science shortly after our marriage, and it has been our only physician and guide for over thirty-five years. My first healing, which was one of weak lungs, from which I had suffered for ten years, was accomplished in one treatment by a practitioner; and it has been permanent.

One of my earliest memories was that of suffering from ulcerated ears. This difficulty reappeared from time to time throughout my childhood. Soon after my taking up the study of Christian Science the condition manifested itself in a very severe form. I asked a practitioner for help in Christian Science, and although the pain vanished immediately, I found that the hearing in one ear was entirely gone. I was so grateful for the healing of pain, however, that I did not inform the practitioner of the loss of hearing until several days later. She explained to me the necessity for a complete healing and said that she would resume work at once. That same day my hearing suddenly returned. Only once, years later, did the ear difficulty recur, and then it was quickly met by my own understanding.

Christian Science has meant everything to me in the rearing of our children. If I should relate all the healings that have taken place in our family of five members, they would require much space. In three cases broken bones were set and healed without material aid. Children's diseases have vanished in one treatment. In several instances the working out of financial problems has been beautiful beyond words to express. Class instruction was a precious experience, and the yearly association meetings are always an inspiration. I thank God for Christian Science, which helps us to understand that "now are we the sons of God" (I John 3:2) and that we are in possession of all the good that our Father-Mother God has bestowed upon His beloved children. Truly the study and application of the truth brings "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding" (Phil. 4:7).—
