Testimonies of Healing

The Psalmist wrote (Ps. 138:8), "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me." I am grateful that I have had Christian Science all my life. With the understanding gained from its teachings I am joyously proving the above quotation to be true. That this Science is a preventive as well as a curative has been proved by the beautiful protection I have had in automobile accidents, In two incidents of head-on collision I experienced only minor injuries. I have also experienced protection from disease.

I am more grateful than words can express for the healing of an extreme sense of fear. At one time I could not bear to be alone, and I endured many sleepless nights. I held constantly to two thoughts. One was the Bible verse (I John 4:18): "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." The other thought was the teaching of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that Mind, or God, is All and that matter is nothing. I prayed diligently to understand that Love which knows no fear and to realize the omnipresence of Mind and the nothingness of matter. After much consistent and persistent work, I began to realize that if there is no matter, then matter could do nothing to me; also that if Mind, God, is All and is Love, then certainly nothing could be present or have power that was not of a loving nature—therefore there was nothing to fear. With this unfoldment came the sincere desire to express more love. As my thought became more loving and my actions manifested more love, the fear dissipated, and I gained my peace. I shall ever be grateful to the practitioner who assisted me during that experience.

I am increasingly grateful to have Christian Science in raising two boys. When one of the boys had the measles, the condition was overcome within twenty-four hours. The other boy was beautifully protected, thus proving the fallacy of the so-called material law of contagion. At another time an attack of mumps was healed within twelve hours by my working with the healing message in Mrs. Eddy's poem "Satisfied" (Poems, p. 79),
