BEHOLD THE DAWN!

From the September 1954 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Christian Science is dawning upon a material age." Mary Baker Eddy makes this simple yet far-reaching statement on page 546 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Those who have experienced the healing and saving power inherent in the teachings of Christian Science know how true this statement is, and they also know that this is a dawn without a setting. It is the dawn of spiritual reality in human consciousness.

Whether one is on a mountaintop or in a valley, one's eyes naturally turn to the dawn of a new day. In like manner, men are turning to spiritual healing. As an understanding of the healing Christ and of one's ability to put this understanding to practical everyday use dawns more brightly in human consciousness, the unreality of mortal mind and so-called material existence becomes more evident.

Mrs. Eddy insists in her writings that Christian Scientists keep before them the distinction between the real and the unreal, between eternal Truth and the counterfeit error, between man in God's image and likeness and mortals. She writes in "Unity of Good" (pp. 9, 10): "What is the cardinal point of the difference in my metaphysical system? This: that by knowing the unreality of disease, sin, and death, you demonstrate the allness of God. This difference wholly separates my system from all others."
