It is reasonable to suppose that almost everyone would like to heal as Christ Jesus healed. For not only did he heal so-called incurable diseases instantaneously, but these healings led hundreds who witnessed them to seek the Christ, Truth, which he expressed; and in this search their lives were transformed and uplifted.
Divine healing through spiritual power alone continued for several generations after Jesus' ascension, and the Science of this healing power was discovered in this age by Mary Baker Eddy, who wrote the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Through this discovery everyone in the world who understands Christ, Truth, can heal by the utilization of her revelation.
That Jesus used forgiveness as a vital part of his healing work is evidenced by his statement to the man with the palsy (Matt. 9:2), "Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee." Again, in John is related Jesus' declaration to one whom he had healed (5:14), "Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee." His plea for divine forgiveness for those who crucified him proved that forgiveness is a necessary concomitant to a healing of the world's ills. However, it must be realized that sin cannot be truly forgiven until it is forsaken and the false sense of man is replaced by the true concept of man as God's expression.
