GATHERING THE FACTS OF BEING

From the June 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mary Baker Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 370), "To be immortal, we must forsake the mortal sense of things, turn from the lie of false belief to Truth, and gather the facts of being from the divine Mind." Loving fulfillment of this admonition will furnish the earnest student of Christian Science ample and helpful employment; and, if pursued diligently, the admonition will bring its reward of spiritual blessedness. Christian Scientists are helping to heal all manner of sin, discord, and disease; and their ability to accomplish this work comes from their consecrated study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings.

As we turn away from the lie of false belief, which is ever trying to make us believe in its reality, to the joyous occupation of gathering the facts of being from the divine Mind, our consciousness becomes filled with positive spiritual truths, which heal and bless and make manifest our relationship with God. This metaphysical process increases our spirituality and enriches our lives. Work of this character makes practical our understanding of the teachings of Christian Science.

This Science clearly shows the spiritual man's relationship to his Maker. It reveals that man is ever reflecting God's perfection and harmony and can only know and experience what God has created—that which is wholly good. As we pray understandingly, we gather the truths of being.
