During the time I have known Christian Science this religion has brought me so many blessings that I feel it is a precious duty to give this testimony. My first healing was of rheumatic fever. A doctor who was consulted prescribed a lengthy period in bed, and I became very despondent. Then I heard of a wonderful healing through Christian Science treatment.
I knew that one of my friends was a student of this Science, and I asked her for a practitioner's address. Medical care was discontinued, and Christian Science help was requested. Treatment was given, and immediately I felt great comfort and hope. The practitioner advised me to study the Bible and also Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The books were too heavy for me to hold without pain, but I said to myself, "God would not show me the way and then deny me the strength to follow it." The sense of weight vanished, and I was able to read the books without hindrance.
Soon the result of this study and of the practitioner's loving work appeared. One day when I was meditating on the truths I had learned, the Bible account of Jesus' healing of the leprous man became clearer. I understood that the Master's words (Mark 1:41), "I will," in response to the leper's plea that Jesus heal him, concerned me and all mankind seeking healing. I thought, "If divine omnipotence sanctions my healing, what power can deny it?" I got up and dressed.
