Over a period of some thirty-five years...

From the July 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Over a period of some thirty-five years, during which I have been studying Christian Science and depending upon it for healing, it has always met my need.

I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of a physical condition variously diagnosed as neuralgia, muscular rheumatism, and pinched nerves. It had handicapped me since childhood. This healing took place quickly, and at the same time a prejudice against Mary Baker Eddy was dissolved. As I became enlightened regarding her relation to Christian Science and her place in the world, I realized that my prejudice was a result of ignorance on the subject. As time has gone on and I have learned more about her loving sacrifice and dedication in giving to the world her revelation of Christian Science, my regard for, and gratitude to, her have constantly increased.

There have been many occasions for deep gratitude, all of which cannot be related in one testimony. I wish to tell of an incident in connection with a healing which took place a number of years ago. An illness assailed me which took the form of periodic attacks of severe internal pain, followed by exhausting chills and fever. These attacks persisted over a period of more than a year, and a great loss of weight and vitality was experienced. At the time of the last attack I lost consciousness and remained in that condition for a number of hours.
