It is the deep gratitude I have for Christian Science that prompts me to tell of the healing which brought me into its study. This was a healing of lack. I was in one of our large cities and was without employment and without funds during the depression. When my efforts to obtain employment were of no avail, a friend recommended that I try Christian Science. I asked help of a practitioner and was told that man is continually employed reflecting the qualities of God.
I had always had sufficient income up to this time and had helped others financially when they were in need. Now I cried out to God and asked why I was experiencing financial difficulty. Then the thought came to me that I had great resentment toward those whom I had helped during their financial difliculites but who now did not offer to help me by at least reimbursing me in some way for the help given them. Suddenly this thought came to me: "It was not your good that was given them; it was God's."
Just at this particular moment a friend called saying he had a position for me in another large city. I took it, and as I strove to put into practice the teachings of Christian Science, this position prepared me for a better one, which was most harmonious and far beyond my expectations in remuneration.
