I should like to state that Christian Science assuredly heals. I first heard of this Science in 1932, and the very day I heard of it I attended a Wednesday testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist. The simplicity of the meeting, the silent prayer, and the testimonies I heard made such an impression on me that I decided immediately to study this religion which was so new to me.
I was indeed in distress and had a heavy heart. My means were inadequate, and my health was quite precarious. For ten years I had been under the care of doctors for pulmonary congestion, a weakened lung, very frequent liver attacks, and rheumatism. Although I had experienced some relief, there was no definite healing.
I obtained a copy of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. To avoid the temptation to resort to medicines I threw mine out immediately. My progress was slow, for my concept of existence had to be changed. However, little by little the shadows in which I had been plunged faded away, and I saw the light of Truth break forth. As I acquired a wider grasp of right ideas, my health improved, and my work became more profitable. I understood at last that the law of God, the activity of good, never ceases and that we must let the Father, whose love is infinite, do the work.
