It is with a deep sense of joy that I write these words of gratitude to God, our heavenly Father, for Mary Baker Eddy and her discovery of Christian Science. Through the study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly I have kept well and have been able to overcome discordant conditions, sometimes through the help of a Christian Science practitioner and sometimes through my own understanding of the truth.
I began to study Christian Science over thirty years ago, and it has always brought me healing and comfort. I do thank God for His infinite goodness to me and pray that my life may attest my sincerity. With David I say (Ps. 16: 11), "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."
It has been proved to me many times that Christian Science is the law of God, made available to all here and now. I have found God to be near at all times, instead of being only in some distant place to be reached later. He is Love, from whom I can never be separated. As I correctly apply these truths to daily living, I find lasting peace and health. God has been my only physician, and all my needs have been supplied. Christian Science has sustained me when loved ones have passed on. Comfort and healing of grief have come to me through Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, Pref., p vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." I have been healed of sciatic rheumatism, a badly sprained knee, and sick headaches, which had recurred every few days since my childhood. These healings occurred over twenty-five years ago. When our small son had the measles and whooping cough, both conditions were healed in a few days with the help of a practitioner.
