With deep gratitude and a humble desire to glorify God, I wish to contribute my testimony of some of the many proofs of God's care I have experienced. For all the good that has come to me through the understanding of God as All-in-all, I am deeply thankful.
One of my first healings was that of grief after our only son passed on at the age of eighteen. I knew very little about Christian Science at that time; so I asked a practitioner for help. I was told that God is ever-present Love, who never separates us from our loved ones; therefore I could never really be separated from my son. In a few months I was completely healed.
During this period I suffered from an abdominal obstruction and from acute arthritis. I lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital. Just before this experience a practitioner had given me the following quotation from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,— neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well." I was told to think about this statement until I really understood it. So fixed were these words in my thought that during the three days of unconsciousness in the hospital I feebly kept uttering them. No drugs or medicine were administered to me during this time. When I regained consciousness, I was completely healed of both discordant conditions, and there has never been a return of either.
