In 1946 my husband and I attended a Christian Science lecture given in Italian, and I became acquainted with this religion. To me it was like a ray of light which illumines the dark cell of a prisoner. Since then, thanks to the help of a practitioner, we have been able to grasp something of the grand truths of being, and Jesus' words have become clear to us (John 8:32): "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The demonstrations of God's care in our family have been many. I wish to tell of some so as to glorify the Christ, Truth, which is ever present to heal and to protect.
Thanks to Christian Science our son has easily been healed of children's diseases. One day he went to bed with a high fever. The practitioner was helping him, but the discordant condition continued. I sat down beside him and took up the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which I am able to read in French. At that moment the fight between Spirit and the flesh became intense. Suggestion argued, "What are you doing with a book in your hand when you should give your suffering child some medicine?"
I opened the textbook and read aloud from page 3 "Shall we ask the divine Principle of all goodness to do His own work? His work is done, and we have only to avail ourselves of God's rule in order to receive His blessing, which enables us to work out our own salvation." Then I repeated aloud "the scientific statement of being" from page 468 of the textbook. When I got up, my son was fast asleep; and when he awoke he was completely healed.
