Since the day Christian Science was first presented to me, it has proved to be a heaven-sent blessing. God has lovingly met my every need, as a mother meets the need of her own precious child. This Science healed me of much physical distress and organic weakness arising from wounds sustained in World War I, although prolonged and kindly medical treatment could do nothing to restore me to normal health. The healing came gently and naturally as a result of my daily study of the Lesson-Sermons outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly and compiled from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
This daily study, together with regular attendance at Christian Science church services, was a constant inspiration, strength, and encouragement, leading me through early days of struggle with doubt, despair, and fear of failure. The result has been an unbroken period of health during more than thirty years of complete reliance upon Christian Science to meet every human need. Members of my family have also been benefited in many ways.
But physical healing was only the first of many blessings. Christian Science made it clear to me that my one and only need at all times was to understand God and man's spiritual at-one-ment with Him as God's own image and likeness. As this understanding became clearer over the years, it brought rich rewards in the way of spiritual guidance and decision which are needed constantly in human affairs. It also enabled me to cope with and correct in some measure undesirable characteristics, including fear, sensuality, and sensitiveness to what I felt others were saying or thinking about me.
