"The king can do no wrong" reads an axiom of jurisprudence which evolved with the establishment of temporal, sovereign authority. This doctrine of the infallibility of the ruler or the government states but the counterfeit conception of the absolute divine authority which belongs exclusively to God. God, the supreme King of kings, indeed can do no wrong. He is unerring Principle and can express only that which is good. The Psalmist said (Ps. 19: 7), "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul."
That which is perfect in every detail cannot be imperfect in any detail. God is perfect, exact, absolute Principle. His perfection is unimpeachable. His law is unchallengeable, undeniable. Principle does not and cannot originate or support evil, sin, disease, or death.
One who grasps even in a degree what Christian Science teaches about the Supreme Being agrees that God is unerring and perfect. Were it possible for Him to do wrong in any respect, He would lose His perfect nature and inflict that deflection on His creation. But perfection can never be less than perfect. Truth cannot be compromised or degraded by error. God cannot be swayed from infinite goodness. Neither can man, His immortal image and likeness, depart from perfection.
