"Though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." These are words which the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians (II Cor. 10:3-5).
Christ Jesus proved his understanding and demonstration of Truth, Life, and Love to be all-powerful weapons over every form of evil, even death. His words and deeds were always inspired by Truth and Love. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 48): "Judas had the world's weapons. Jesus had not one of them, and chose not the world's means of defence. 'He opened not his mouth.' The great demonstrator of Truth and Love was silent before envy and hate. Peter would have smitten the enemies of his Master, but Jesus forbade him, thus rebuking resentment or animal courage."
As followers of Jesus we shall do well to exercise divine wisdom in our choice of weapons with which to defeat error. We should utilize our understanding of Life, Truth, and Love to free us from the temptation to believe in aggression, hatred, ignorance, and the like as real and powerful.
