STANDING ERECT

From the August 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Here I stand. I can do no otherwise; so help me God! Amen!" So said Martin Luther. It is significant that Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, used the above quotation to preface in part the chapter entitled "Science of Being," which is found in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Can her students ever be grateful enough for the stand she took when, alone but unafraid, she shared with the whole world her discovery of the Principle and rule of metaphysical healing?

Knowing that her system of healing had a sure foundation, being based on the teachings and works of Christ Jesus, Mrs. Eddy at all times stood by the divine revelation of the true nature of God and man in solving whatever problems presented themselves in her human experience.

Throughout her inspired writings our Leader rejects all material theories, giving us the facts of the Science of Mind as the platform on which to stand. In the process of turning away from matter to Mind, students of Christian Science soon realize how vital it is to obey and to practice in daily life the unchanging rules of the Science of being in order to prove the infallibility of divine metaphysics. They learn step by step the importance of ever standing by the spiritual facts of Life, and thus they see false material evidences disappear.
