In the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy are to be found Rules governing every activity of the Christian Science organization. One of these activities is that of the Committee on Publication, which, seen in its full import, is missionary in purpose.
The large number of men and women engaged in Committee on Publication work the world over are faced with the task, among many others, of protecting the Cause of Christian Science and individual Scientists in their area from unjust attack through the press or circulated literature and, where possible, of correcting unjust laws which would hinder the practice of Christian Science.
The writer has always been a most sincere and grateful admirer of these workers. One day she realized that the Rule in the Manual governing the Committee on Publication could be applied by all Christian Scientists in their daily lives. Surely we should strive, whether by thought, word, or deed, to present to those with whom we come in contact a correct concept of God and man. In following the teachings of Christ Jesus, Christian Science shows us that God, divine Mind, is the one and only creator of the universe and that man is made in His image and reflects Him. In the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy defines "creator" as follows (p. 583):"Spirit; Mind; intelligence; the animating divine Principle of all that is real and good; self-existent Life, Truth, and Love; that which is perfect and eternal; the opposite of matter and evil, which have no Principle; God, who made all that was made and could not create an atom or an element the opposite of Himself."
