I came to recognize the healing power of Christian Science ten years ago when I had a painful muscular trouble and pains in the head. Since childhood I had had great faith in God's goodness, and when I at last realized that of myself I could do nothing, I was led in my extremity to the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
I had not read far when my thought was arrested by Mrs. Eddy's reference on page 23 to the two words "trustfulness" and "trustworthiness." As I pondered these two words with the help of a dictionary, I was instantaneously healed. At the same time other discordant physical conditions from which I had suffered for many years completely left me. For some time I had been realizing that the fault lay in my own thinking, and when I systematically cleared my thought of all resentment toward others so that my heart went out to them in love, I was prepared for the blessing.
The realization came that all real being is beautiful and that man is loving and intelligent, dwelling in the realm of Spirit and untouched by birth, decay, or death. My gratitude was great, and I knew that my life must now be dedicated to this beautiful way of living that could bring not only relief from suffering but true beauty into the hearts of mankind. I very soon became a member of a Christian Science Society, where I sensed the beauty and love of God all around me. Later I received class instruction.
