I Am Awake

From the June 1957 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Actually there is no lack of good
and no temptation to believe in bad;
no unsolved problems continuing in rehearsal,
no unhealed grievances to tell,
no unchecked annoyances to revel in.
The child of God has no affinity for any sin.

Gratitude impels the asking of one question.
Abiding in humility, expectantly we pray,
"Father-Mother, Love, can I do more for You and Yours
than I am doing?" And the honest question will be asked,
the answer heard, in consciousness alight with spirituality.
Receptivity to God's Word abundantly supplies with right activity,
with overflowing gratitude for present good, with absolute authority
and honesty and wisdom and ability to meet the human need.

And so I turn obediently from failures great and failings small,
rejecting fables of divisive mortal sense. Seeking Truth for Truth's sake
and obeying its demands unfold God's creation in its clear light.
Bright before me is the way I take. I am awake!
