Over forty years ago a friend asked me to read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. To this day I am still rejoicing, for Christian Science has opened a whole new field of thought for me. It has given me a greater insight into the true value of spiritual things, enabled me to put God in my everyday life, and find peace that passes all understanding. Before I had finished reading this textbook, I found that I was completely healed of chronic constipation, which for years had made me almost desperate. Then I realized that the tendency to take cold was lessening and that the annual attack of grippe I usually suffered had entirely passed me by.
Soon after that I married, and although I still believed in the great truth of Christian Science, I was not very alert to practice it. After losing three babies by premature births, I decided that it was time to put myself in God's hands. When I was expecting a baby for the fourth time, the same conditions presented themselves. I went to a Christian Science practitioner for help to eliminate my fears. The work was beautifully done, and I had a lovely daughter. This child will always be a living proof to me that God is at hand and that we can confidently trust in Him.
When our daughter was two years old, a severe attack of croup developed, and one night she appeared to be passing on. We called a practitioner for help, and as her words came over the telephone, "In God she lives and moves and breathes," my husband called to me that the baby was free. And that was the end of the croup. This child was also wonderfully protected from children's diseases. At times all evidence of contagion disappeared in a few hours.
